About

The Xfire signature feature was added to the Xfire website in 2005. This was quickly picked up by many, and used across many forums in people's signatures.

Xioustic created his own custom Xfire signature, and shortly thereafter released the source code for it in the forum. It was quite a tricky script, which copied fragments of the original Xfire signatures onto a new background image.

September 1st 2005 saw the release of CXS, Custom Xfire Signatures, and was a site created and ran by Brewno and Madwormer2 from the Xfire forums. The site allowed users to register, and to create a Custom Xfire Signature from their web browsers based on the script by Xioustic.

Moving with the times, the site went through several incarnations over the next few months, with the script rapidly changing, as well as the website design. The script moved to capturing data from the Xfire profile page, and using that information to create the image. This allowed the creation of cleaner images, with a greater range of colours.

Now, the current incarnation of CXS, exactly one year on from the arrival of the very first, is as you see before you. The creation of the WYSIWYG editor allows the user to easily edit their signatures directly from the browser, and see the results immediately from only a few minutes work.
